1          Why is there a difference with pallet racking upright protectors for the corner uprights compared to the intermediate uprights?

The corner uprights of a pallet rack structure are considered high risk as they tend to be directly hit by forklifts. These impact conditions require that the protectors need to be designed for side and frontal impact forces. We recommend using a substantial steel guard, fixed independently to the floor. In comparison, the intermediate uprights are considered low risk as they tend to be indirectly hit by either pallet or product. Likelihood of impact is also lower for intermediate uprights. Design standard EN 15512-2009 Section 6.4 recommends that intermediate upright protectors be designed only for frontal impact so that the clear entry of the pallet rack bay is not reduced. The VISIPLAS protector was designed as the low cost solution for the protection of low risk intermediate uprights.

2          Should VISIPLAS protectors be used for corner uprights?

While VISIPLAS protectors were primarily designed for the intermediate uprights nearly all customers also fit them on the corner uprights in conjunction with substantial steel guards. Not only does the distribution centre look better with all front uprights fitted with VISIPLAS protectors, but also the protectors highlight the corner of the pallet rack, reducing the incidence of collisions.

3          Which type of VISIPLAS protector do I need?

The type of VISIPLAS protector is determined by measuring the width of the front face of the pallet racking upright and referring to the table below. As an example, if the pallet rack upright is 100 mm wide, then choose VISIPLAS Type AVC.

4          Why so many sizes of VISIPLAS protectors?

All VISIPLAS protectors are 500 mm high and are available in nine widths to suit the different upright face widths of different manufactures. The five types stocked are given above. The design standard EN 15512-2009 Section 6.4 specifies that protectors for intermediate uprights be designed for frontal impact only. This is so that the protector does not protrude into the clear entry of the pallet rack bay. If we adopted a “One size fits all” approach, then the extra width of the protector would intrude into the clear entry of the pallet rack bay causing problems for the forklift operators.

5          How are the VISIPLAS protectors fitted to the pallet rack?

Most commonly, the VISIPLAS protectors are secured to the pallet rack uprights using the Extra Heavy Duty Cable Ties included in each carton.  Spare Cable Ties are also included in each carton.

6          Why am I unable to order less than carton quantities?

By shipping the cartons in full carton quantities, we are able to make savings.  These savings are passed on by giving free shipping to business addresses in Europe.  For the Type A VISIPLAS protector there are 24 protectors per carton, for the Type B there are 21 protectors per carton, for the Type B there are 21 protectors per carton, for the Type C there are 18 protectors per carton, for the Type D there are 18 protectors per carton and for the Type E there are 15 protectors in each carton.  There is also a trial carton size of 2 Type B protectors per carton.  Spare Cable Ties are also included.  Please refer to the online ordering section Shop to order.

7          There are a number of pallet rack upright protectors available such as Protect-It, Rack Sentry, Rack Armour, Boplan Rackbull, A-Safe iFlex RackGuard and more.  Why should I order the VISIPLAS Protector instead of one of these?

As you’ve mentioned, there are many pallet racking upright protectors such as Protect-It, Rack Sentry, Rack Armour, Boplan Rackbull, A-Safe iFlex RackGuard and others.  The VISIPLAS Protector is designed strictly to the applicable codes and standards, and recognises the differences between the high risk corner uprights of a rack and the lower risk intermediate uprights.  The VISIPLAS Protector is specifically designed as a low cost protector to suit the low risk intermediate uprights and is used in conjunction with independent steel guards on the high risk corner uprights.  The VISIPLAS Protector matches cost with risk and is the economical, preferred solution.

1          ¿Worin liegt der Unterschied zwischen Protektoren für Palettenregalständer an den Ecken verglichen mit den innen liegenden?

Die Ständer an den Ecken eines Palettenregalsystems sind einem höheren Risiko ausgesetzt, da sie eher von Gabelstaplern getroffen werden. Unter diesen Bedingungen müssen die Protektoren speziell gegen einen seitlichen und gegen einen frontalen Aufprall konstruiert sein. Wir empfehlen eine fest im Boden verankerte, unabhängige Schutzvorrichtung aus Stahl. Die innen liegenden Ständer sind einem vergleichsweise geringeren Risiko ausgesetzt, da sie wahrscheinlicher indirekt von Paletten oder Waren getroffen werden. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines Aufpralls ist bei innen liegenden Ständern ebenfalls niedriger. Der Designstandard DE 15512-2009, Abschnitt 6.4 empfiehlt, dass innen liegende Protektoren nur gegen einen frontalen Aufprall entworfen sein müssen, sodass der Zugang zum Regalfach frei bleibt. Der VISIPLAS-Protektor wurde als kostengünstige Lösung für den Schutz der weniger gefährdeten, innen liegenden Ständer entworfen.

2          ¿Sollten für Eckständer VISIPLAS-Protektoren verwendet werden?

Obwohl VISIPLAS-Protektoren in erster Linie für innen liegende Ständer entworfen wurden, verwenden fast alle Kunden sie auch, um in Verbindung mit festen Schutzvorrichtungen aus Stahl die Eckständer zu schützen. Das Verteilerzentrum sieht nicht nur besser aus, wenn alle vorderen Ständer mit VISIPLAS-Protektoren ausgestattet sind, darüber hinaus sorgen die Protektoren auch für eine Hervorhebung der Regalecken und verringern somit die Wahrscheinlichkeit von Kollisionen.

3          ¿Welche Art von VISIPLAS-Protektor benötige ich?

Den VISIPLAS-Protektortyp entnehmen Sie der folgenden Tabelle, nachdem Sie gemessen haben, wie breit die Vorderseite des Ständers ist. Wenn der Ständer zum Beispiel 90 mm breit ist, dann wählen Sie einen VISIPLAS Typ AVB.

Auf diese Weise kann der Protektor nicht in das Regalfach hineinragen. Wenn wir nur eine „Standardgröße für alle“ hätten, dann würde ein Protektor mit seiner zusätzlichen Breite in das Regalfach hineinragen und den Fahrern der Gabelstapler Probleme bereiten.

5          ¿Wie erfolgt die Montage der VISIPLAS-Protektoren am Regal?
